Perfect place to eat while walking around the redondo pier. Parking is in a paid parking structure for $2/hr and this restaurant is pretty much on the pier, towards the top level above the seafood market. It seem to be Korean owned but it have all sorts of cooked and raw fish, wish a variety of beer and soju. The small plate of sashimi and live shrimp were fresh and served with wasabi, including its heads fried separately. Overall great experience eating while looking out into the ocean!
This place is a foundational staple for steamed crabs and seafood stew as SoCal Korean!! It is $$$$, so a place to enjoy on special periodic occasions. The seafood is always fresh with live crabs and lobsters in the tank. Our family recently went and shared some crab, shrimp, sashimi and spicy Korean seafood stew. The food was simple but delicious and fresh. The service was on point as well as the server ladies were always asking if we needed anything. Ambience is simple no frills place with wooden tables and seats on the pier. This place is always a treat.
This is THE place to go for Korean style seafood. The Korean fish stew is the perfect touch to being over the water.
Redondo Beach Family Staple My family loves visiting Redondo Beach for this Korean owned Fish Center for their Small Fish Soup $37.99 and the Small Shrimp $16.99 per pound. Don't be sticker shocked and if you are, head on over to the long lines at Quality Seafood. They also sell Crab that will cost you an arm and a leg aka North of a Benjamin $100. I didn't take a picture of the famous Fish Soup but they use this really nice Meaty Fish and provide Rice and Kimchi to go along with it. It is very filling and hearty. Asking for Tabasco will set you back $2.50. At least water was free and had a piece of lemon, but the utensils are as disposable as you can get! Shrinkflation hit this Redondo Beach gem.
Classic steamed crabs with no extra seasonings + frills. We ordered 2 dungeness crab + small sashimi platter for $189. Not too bad, considering the sashimi was super fresh and the crab was about 2 pounds each and cooked perfectly too. The service interactions were minimal, but they were busy and were constantly moving around. The only complaint about the food that I have is that the butter that they provide tastes like the movie popcorn "butter flavoring" rather than real butter. The other thing is, we paid using a credit card but wanted to tip in cash, and we told that to the cashier when we paid (order and pay first, then sit). As we finished, we went to go line up to ask for change from the cashier, but the line was out the door so we were going out to wind around to the end, but the lady chased us down yelling at us to tip. I understand it could have looked like we were just leaving but still... it was a bit of a sour end to our experience here, but overall wasn't a bad time.
The OG Redondo beach crab house with a view of the pier. Price is $$$$ so expect to splurge on this quality seafood dinner, and smashing the steamed crab is also part of the fun. Small sashimi platter was a good app for a group of four. Steamed crab is a must, along with the seafood soup as the finale. (unlimited rice and kimchi).
We've been going to this restaurant for 25+ years. I went here last Wednesday for dinner. Total party size was 6 people. In the last ~10 years, the restaurant is definitely starting to show its age and the food quality is more inconsistent than before. That said, the dinner on Wednesday night was great. We had a reason to celebrate so had a feast that included 2 lobsters (one as sashimi and one steamed), steamed crabs, raw spotted prawn, large sashimi platter, steamed clams, steamed baby octopus and the must-have spicy fish stew. Be prepared as things can get quite expensive pretty quickly. If you want to have to have this type of seafood right on the water, there is still no other place we have found that compares. Looking forward to the next visit.
2023/142 Located inside the shopping area of Redondo Beach Pier. Friendly , cheerful and helpful order taker staff. I Came Saturday for dinner got 2 crabs for $116 , a lot pricey but i guess worth the dining experience by the beach. Butcher Paper served as table covering ,and we were given small wooden Mallets, plastic utensils, paper plates, and Disposable aprons. Lemon water in a pitcher with plastic cups, lemon wedges and melted Food came in sbout 20 minutes Waitress de-shelled the crab and cut into quarters. Crab was meaty , sweet and tasty. Fried oysters were fresh and battered lightly. Fried baby octopus kinda chewy but grandkids love them Small Steamed Shrimps with heads were kinda on the salty side but meat were fresh and tender. Restaurant has a scenic view of the pier boardwalk and ocean on each side of the dining area. Live dungeness crabs are weighed first then to be steamed and served steaming hot and cut then eaten.
Never expected to find delicious Korean food on a pier in California. But one visit and I am hooked! Most piers serve a lot of fried American food, fish and chips, clam chowder, and fair food but it doesn't seem like the case here. There are a few Korean restaurants on the Redondo beach pier and this is the only one I've tried so far. Super excited to be back since the beach had nice calm waves and the pier was very large, clean, and easy to park/walk. I stumbled upon this restaurant after a day at the pier and there were several people ordering for dine in with a decent line out the door. The menu is all visual and sometimes not all the dishes are available depending on the season/catch. My group of 4 got a crab, a large Korean spicy fish soup, and a medium sashimi plate. It was tons of food and our favorite was the fish soup since it was perfect for a chilly day and had a lot of seafood flavors/ingredients inside. The crab here is pretty pricey! I think ours was ~$70 for one. Nothing too special about it besides you are eating seafood on a pier. But it was still good nonetheless. This was also my first time having this type of Korean sashimi. All of the slices of fish were pretty tough and chewy compared to traditional Japanese sashimi. It was very interesting and the weirdest item to eat was the abalone sashimi. I have had tons of cooked abalone before but never had it raw or in sashimi form. It was oddly slimy and crunchy. Not that enjoyable but fun to try for everyone in my group. I would not recommend getting only abalone sashimi on its own since the medium and large sashimi plates come with 1 abalone included unless you know you love it enough to eat several. We really wanted the live shrimp but they were not available when we visited. Excited to give this place another try when we see that next time! The restaurant is also located right on the water so I would imagine it is really nice during the day when you can actually see the water. When I went for dinner it was already dark so sadly didn't see much out the window. Definitely get a soup here! The large was massive and you can get unlimited rice.
